(CPSDS) We are committed to protecting the privacy of our donors, volunteers, students, educators, and the communities we serve. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information about you when you visit our website, sign up to volunteer, donate, or participate in our programs and events.

  • Forms and Sign-ups: When you donate, volunteer, or sign up for newsletters, we collect personal information such as your name, email address, and phone number.
  • Event/Course Registration: Information collected includes contact details and payment information, where applicable.
  • Educational Records: Information collected includes course progress and course completion records, grades, quiz/exam results, and certification status.
  • COMAR: CPSDS is obligated to collect other data related to legal requirements set forth by the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) and the Maryland Training Commission. These data collection and retention requirements may be adjusted as required by the State of Maryland. CPSDS is the sole system of record for executed certified CPSDS education programs as required by state law.

  1. Information Sharing and Disclosure We do not sell, rent, allow inspection, donate, intentionally make public, or lease any of your personal or professional information to third parties. Information may be shared with third parties in the following situations:
  • Third Party Requests: The CPSDS will not disclose user information to third parties without formal legal process. It is our duty to protect the personal privacy of our students, donors, employees, and instructors. The CPSDS will not honor informal requests for information absent life threatening exigent circumstances.
  • Legal Requirements: We disclose information where required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, or similar legal process. All legal requests must specify, in writing, the scope, reason, and specific details for the request (absent a court ordered do not discuss clause) and must be submitted electronically. Requests must contain the requestors full name, organization, phone number, physical address, and email address.
  • Violations of Law: Any misuse of CPSDS systems, technologies, or information which does, might, or appears to be a violation of any state, local, or federal law which includes (but is not limited to) application misinformation, fraud, misrepresentation of fact, or malfeasance will be reported to investigatory authorities. These reports may include the transmission of protected privacy related use of information as described above without formal legal process.

Data Security We implement appropriate physical, technical, and administrative measures to protect the information we collect from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction including, but not limited to compliance measures meeting or exceeding with federal Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) standards.
